07 Classic Sierra Has Blown Front Speakers

Hi,

I have a new 07 Sierra sbxc 4x4 with the single cd player. Over the past month or so, the front speakers have started buzzing so badly that the radio is nearly unlistenable. It sounds like the speakers are blown. I am the only driver of the truck and the only thing I listen to is talk radio. I have tried playing with the audio level presets and have manually tried all of the bass and treble settings, but it still sounds like the front speakers are shot.

1.) Has anyone else encountered this problem?

2.) Is it likely my dealer will honor this as a warrantee claim?

3.) If the dealer does swap them out, will I be back in the same boat three months from now?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I will answer them in order:

1.) Yes I have in my 01 1500 HD

2.)I don't know as I aquired my truck out of warrantee.

3.) Probably so. I have changed out EVERY speaker in my truck and currently have a bust speaker.

My advice is if GM gives you new speakers for free take them for as long as possible, but if you have to pay, get aftermarket speakers.

You could actually have a bad output circuit in your head unit. It happens. If the speakers have not been abused I doubt seriously they are BOTH blown. One defective one I could see... but both? Not very likely.

I guess there is always the off chance that there was a make-ready guy blasting the stereo at top volume for the hour or so that the truck was originally being cleaned up for delivery.

Whatever the case, the warranty should take care of it. Without abuse the new replacements should last for years to come.

Wifes trailblazer had the same problem, left front is on it's third replacement in a year. I was tempted to turn the truck in on lemon but i'm sure that's a pain.

06 Sierra, drivers door speaker went bad after 1.5 years, and I'm an old guy, so its not too loud. Didn't bother asking about warranty. Bought a set of Blaupunkts from Crutchfield that came with the correct mounting and electrical adaptors, so the pretty much plugged in. Sounds alot better, but could use more base. Now one of the rear speakers is starting to make weird noises, so I'll probably order some more...

You just got bad speakers. My '01 has original speakers, I blast my radio/cd sometimes and they sound great! Maybe too much talk radio is making your speakers :)

Any ideas for me, I am on my 2nd set of speakers in less than a year. I bought my truck drove it for almost 3 months, blew a speaker, replaced it with OEM, blew another one (different speaker) and replaced it with OEM, then they stayed for about 6-8 months, then like dominoes they all blew one by one. Any ideas?

those speakers blow a lot, so if you did happen to blow both front speakers then it should be a quick thing to fix and pretty easy for the dealer to tell the problem... the thing is that maybe its not blown speakers, maybe its just the station you listen to, AM is more partial to problems like buzzing or static than FM,(is the sound there at all the stations, even with a cd?) if it goes away with a cd or FM stations than you have a reception problem... but never the less, dealers will waranty almost anything, just make sure the tech knows the noise you dont like, ask to talk to him if need be, and show him... if there giving a hard time ask to compare it to a new stock unit and see if it does the same thing... if you complain enough, eventially, you'll get your way
