Remote Start 2007 Tahoe

I have a 2007 Tahoe that did not come with the remote start option. Did GM prewire the vehicle so I can add the factory style remote start? I hate aftermarket anything and would prefer to get the factory remote start if I can.

 

If I can get it does anyone have a part number or price? Is it easy to install or will the dealer need to do it?

I am researching this same question. I bought a FOB w/ Remote Start off of Ebay that is designed for my NBS 07 Siverado. The GM accessory kit says "with RPO AP8" that is extended range keyless entry. I have been able to programs this FOB to work the doors but there is no relearn for the remote start as it is not there from the factory. I asked my Chevy Dealer about a "VCI" ??? that this kit references. There is no module for the remote start listed. The BCM is also the same for all models. It seems to me that everything is present and needs to be activated but I have yet to have a GM Tech tell me that.

Can anyone here research this? It is much appreciated.

Hi guys, I want to get a remote start FOB off EBay too but I have the same question. I do have RPO code AP8 but I don't know if it will be plug and play from there. The kit on gmpartsdirect says it comes with the VCI programming needed to upgrade the remote start system? Does this mean I can't just buy a used FOB that has the remote start and program it myself? Thanks!

You have to buy the kit and then the dealer must reprogram the truck. A new key fob won't give you remote start.
