I guess it needs more than Blown DOHC 5.4l Maybe Ford should look into things like weight reduction, aerodynamics, and building a motor worth a d**n to start off with, rather than slapping on a supercharger on a vehcile.

You can't get that mustang for only 43K. Ford is making them really hard to get. Another thing from was stated on the video the mustang gt500 was also modified from stock?

I know a few ricers that could beat the cobra's you speak of.

 

I think the non-Z06 vette runs right with the PIG GT500 in straight line speeds, it whips that FAT PIGs ashe at VIR.

As long as the ambient temperature was below 70 degrees, the GT500 was fairly quick and posted a 3:05.9 lap. But when the temperature climbed to about 90 degrees, the engine started lying down, and the lap time lengthened by four seconds. None of the other cars was so affected by the heat. I don't understand the new gt500 at all. You pay 50K for a regular GT mustang with some body kits, beefier suspension and a supercharger bolted on to a 5.4? You could do all of this yourself or done by someone else for much less.

You are paying for the Shelby name with the GT500. The same goes with the KR.

Umm power isn't everything...I don't know about that. It is a Mustang and a Vette. That is like saying when you go to a strip club the girls aren't everything.

Haha dude that gt500 was modified and stock, they pull 12.3 1/4 mile times. That vette was stock and still pulled car length or two on it.

But you're absolutely right don't even dare try and fling that mustang into a corner like a vette!

No matter what, the mustang is still a pony car. A corvette is something so much more technilogicaly and performancly advanced it's rediculous. I love how Ford fans talk like they are in the same catagory. The Vette hangs out with 911 turbos. Add a supercharger to a GTO and you have a GTO500 to play with the Mustang.

i know a supercharged civic that could smoke a ferrari too..but

stock to stock the corvette will win Everytime.

The Shelby Cobra,no matter what the Dealer Markup, is still just a $40,000 car.It was never intended to compete against a Z06,but put it next to your everyday Vette and see what happens in the 1/4 mile.

 

I like both cars but comparing a Shelby to a Z06 is like comparing a Kia to a Lexus.

 

No matter what you have,you can always find something faster.Let's see the Z06 is Chevys Supercar,lets see it against the Ford GT.

 

The cool thing about Mustangs is there is unlimited aftermarket parts for them at decent prices.My 03 Cobra was a 11 sec car with only a few pulley swaps,CAI,Dyno tune,exhaust,and some DR's and was still a daily driver.Would I take a Z06 over a Shelby?Well hell yes that thing is sweet but like the Shelby the Dealer markups on them are just as crazy.

 

I'm just not a one Brand person.If another Company makes a vehicle I like I'd buy it.I compared and drove all the new Trucks before I bought my 07 Silverado and there were a few that I liked but the Silverado just seemed like the better Truck from the first time I drove it.

heh .. i remember when the camaro was discontinued ... thats about when ford jacked the prices on the mustang and made some comment about the vette is next ... like they were trying to hint that it was their only comp left ...

 

the two cars are completly different... a mustang could never be compared to a vette when you are talking about what you can buy off the showroom floor ...

 

around me .. there are GT500's just sittign on the lot ... but they have trouble keeping the 'riced up' F150's in stock ... which go for the same price ...
