Well finally got some pics developed from when I went off-roading and found some nice mud in a wash/detention basin the county is building out in the mountains...

Pretty messy under the hood when I was done.  Happy I didn't have an open air filter, otherwide it would have been dirty.  Took me many hours to clean though, especially the bottom of the truck.  But it was fun.

Good photos Sincity!  I don't mind getting the truck dirty at all but man I hate mud in the engine area!  Were you able to get most of the mud off of that insulation attached to the underside of the hood?

Looks like you had fun!

Yeah, busted out the power washer at home and went to work cleaning the truck up.  Actually took me a couple of days wash it between doing other things.  The undercarriage is what took the most to clean.  The engine bay is pretty clean now, but needs just a little more work when I have the time, just that dirty water film left on a few parts.

Wanted to get some action pics, but kinda hard to drive and take pics.  And I didn't want to get my good sandals all muddy.

Good pics.

Here's a tip for undercariage cleaning.  Set one of those spriklers that goes back and forth, the fan shaped kind, under the truck.  It will get alot of stuff off and make your time spend under the truck a lot less as well as easier.  It's kind of along the same lines as using a leaf blower to dry of the truck with...it can get some funny looks from neighbors.   :(

Definatly good that you didn't have and open air filter.  ;)

That's what you bring a buddy for. :(

those pics are nice dude!  flly on over to my pics site and check out the first picture on top.  its the dirtiest pic that i've ever got of my truck.  i'm very proud of it =)  it took me about 5 hrs to get all the mud off the truck and underbody, and i refused to go to a carwash, and so when i was done there was like a 6 inch mud blanket on our driveway!  my roommates who have smaller cars and park in the garage are like, "dude, tony, you better clean all that sh*t up, my porsche doesn't have a Z71 package and i kinda need to get it into the garage!"  haha, and in good fun!

LOL...yeah I know what you mean about a muddy drive way.  My dad gave me a few dirty looks for the mess I made cause I too refused to go to a car wash.  The gutters had a few inches of mud stacked up in them, and all of the neighbors driveways downstream of our house had mud water in the gutters, so the neighborhood was full of muddy tire marks, and still is actually.

Tom, that is a really good idea, I am going to try that out for sure next time I need to clean the undercarriage.  That would make life alot easier and keep me a lot cleaner then if I have to crawl underneath the whole time.  Thanks.

General, next time I go out there I will definately bring someone along to get pics, this was just a spur of the moment thing while I was out driving around.

Thanks, I've been doing that for years.  It doesn't get everything, but it helps out a lot.  And if your lucky enough to do that before it dries up completely, it helps even more.  I move it around into 3-4 different spots over an hour or so time, to try to get the most of it off.
