Knocking Noises In Lower Dash

I have a '05 Sierra K1500 with about 21K miles - the past couple of months, when I start the engine, I hear a "pop" "pop" "pop" noise in the lower dash - it knocks for several seconds, sometimes up to 30 seconds. Then it goes away. I'm assuming it's something in the HVAC motor assembly, possibly a vacuum or electric motor but not really sure. I have an appointment in 10 days for oil/lube, and will have them look at, but until then, just curious if you have any ideas. I tried the search function, but no luck. Thanks in advance for your time and input!!

How loud is the "pop"? I've got an '03 with 39,340 on it I just bought with a possible similar noise. To me it sounds like it's lower dash on the driver side, and it occurs even when the key is in the Run position w/ the truck off. It only lasts for a few seconds in that scenario, but once the truck is running it pretty much happens all the time. But again, it's only noticable at a standstill. I, too, have a GM appt. tomorrow for the intermediate shaft, a blown HVAC bulb, and this. If I get any good info I'll post it here. Not sure if it's the same problem but maybe it'd help!

95% of the time it is the hvac mode or temp door actuator motor

What can be done about it if anything?

its probably the air temp door for the passenger side, you have to replace the actuator, its very easy and very common, they should have it done in less than 20 minutes

Nevermind my input. Dealer called w/ an update on my truck this morning after diagnosis and said my dash noise is gears in the guage cluster which is considered "normal" but yet they were willing to fix it for $395. Yeah...I'll live with it for now until it sounds like stuff is breaking or guages stop working.
