I have a 00 sierra that has a rattle coming from around the windshield when the wind is blowing just right. I've taken the plastic off around the window and drove it but it did'nt help. Does anybody else have this problem? What the hell is it?

Do you have a bug guard on the hood? I've seen a lot of trucks have terrible turbulence around the windshield area with those installed. It makes the plastic trim rattle in certain conditions too.

If not, then I am not any help... or so my wife says.

I have a bugshield, brushguard, and a cowl hood, I wonder which one it could be?

You know what, I have the same problem. Windshield noise at highway speeds. And I guess the cause may very well be my bug deflector, because I never noticed it until after I put the deflector on. One day I'll take my deflector off and see if it still makes the noise.

It happens a lot.

The truck is designed for the air to flow over it a certain way in the wind tunnel. The bug deflector changes that... creating turbulence in the process that isn't supposed to be there. If you take it off, the rattle will go away.

I took my deflector off for a few days and I haven't heard the rattle. Now I put the deflector back on a few days ago, and still don't hear it anymore. Go figure.....

I have'nt got a chance to take my bug deflector off yet, but I know what you mean about the rattle stopping. Mine only rattles when the wind direction is just right, or just wrong, whichever.

Ok, I spoke too soon. I heard the rattle again today. I guess I'll just have to deal with it. I'd rather have some noise than bug crap all over my hood. Besides, I'll just turn up the radio, lol.

The bug guard is causing turbulance around the winshield. My does it avove 65 only. The remedy (which I have not done yet) is a strip of 1/4 3M double sided body tape. The rattle is from the rubber trim along the edges of the windshield flapping so slightly. Take that trim and undo it and clean the glass and the underside of the rubber and reinstall with the tape between them. It will solve the noise.....really!

I took the brush guard and bug shield off for the winter about a month ago and woolah.. no more rattle. I might try what you said next spring when I go to put the rims and bg and bs back on. Thanks man!
