I looked at a 2007 Silverado Z71 Ext Cab Regular Box today that had the LT2 package, 18" wheels, and some other options that was on sale for $28,500. It listed for like $34,600. I'd try and talk them down some more!

So I went to the dealer this evening, took the truck for a test drive, fell in love with it, has 183 miles on her, 50 of which are a result of the vehicle being moved over to South Denver from Boulder today. Seems like it may be slightly more powerful then my 99, but hard to tell. (5.3 for both vehicles) Seems like the rear cab is smaller then that in my 99. Love the center console and the dash lay out!! very smooth! wonder if I should have looked at crew cabs, but the only ones they had on the lot were 4.8Ls and I am sold on the 5.3. No MAX's on the lot, hard to keep in stock.

Went to talk numbers with him, he was a decent guy with alot of expierence. THey wanted $34,469.51 for the 0% 60 month deal, or $31,469.51 with the incentives/rebates. Tried to get both but they would not budge. I told them I would like it for $32,000 final, (all dealer fees and junk like that included) he went to talk with the sales manager for about 10 min, came back and gave me a sheet and said the best they would do is $33,191.40. I went out to look at the truck again, came back in, told him I want to sleep on it and I would give him an answer in the morning. Of course he went to talk to the manager again and came back $32,900 if you take it tonight. I told him no again, (very nice about it) I wanted to sleep on it and would have an answer for him in the morning.

What do you guys think? I am thinking of calling in the morning and telling him $32,000 and its a deal, if you also take care of a few small scratches on the front from what looks like a car wash brush or something? very small.

I don't know, what do you guys think about this?

I bought one week and a half ago pretty similar. 2007 Ext cab 4wd z-71 with 5.3, trailer package, LT conveience package.

My list was a little more at 33k and some change. Paid $24,700 for it - with TTL I wrote out a check from the bank for $26k and some change.

Not sure on the rebates or 0% financing. Dealer never asked. Truck was advertised in our weekly 6 page newspaper with that price of $24,700 and I asked for a cash price with TTL and just wrote out the check for that amount. Looking at the purchase agreement it has the rebate but I never asked about the 0% to see if it would matter, but I would not have gone that way anyway.

That is a KILLER deal! Those things are going for $36,000 here.

I think it's going to depend a lot on how bad the dealer wants to get rid of an '07. I've read where some dealers have lots of tem left and some don't. The dealer I bought it from had one only and it was his feature truck of the week - but he also only has a lot of about 25 trucks not sure if that matters.

I thought that was pretty good too. That was the pre-haggling price, too. They had tags hanging from the mirrors of all of them and that was the markdown price I saw. It was all I could do not to walk in there and buy that thing.. its what I want to a T!!

I told them $32,000 this morning when he called, he called back a few min later and said "See you this evening"

My friends, I'm getting a new truck.

She's home... had a bit of hassling to do at the dealership, I'll go into it later, but I ended up going with the $3000 off and 6.4% APR, will get her paid off quickly though. I'll post details later.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. I've lived in four states including Texas.   It's what "Purchasing Power" means.   I'm not telling you what I think. Your not entitled to your own facts. If you and I were, they wouldn't be facts.    fact /făkt/   noun Knowledge or information based on real occurrences.
