Wait4me Tune Or Edge Evo

I just bought an Edge Evolution and received it today. The reason I chose the Edge was that it had 4 different tuning levels, it could display 4 of however many parameters your truck has, it is internet updateable, and it can read and clear codes. The reason I didn't go with the Wait4me was becuase then i'd have to buy another ecm and pcm then if you truck needs to be serviced you need to switch them both out ( I know it's not difficult but a hassle non the less). Overall I like the Edge becuase it's not just a tuner. The Wait4me on the other hand is much more customizable and probably will see larger performance gains.

They send you a tuned PCM, you keep the stocker.

He owns a 2007 NBS. Good luck getting a PCM for these trucks at a reasonable price.. Besides, a lot of people have issues with needing to teach the new PCM the crank-re-learn procedure which can cost you even more $$$$$.

I'd suggest to wait a year or two before doing any type of PCM swap on these, because the cores will become more readily available as time goes by.

For Right now, the Edge Evo seems to be the hot ticket. I just purchased one about 6 weeks ago. To date though, it seems that my gas mileage has NOT improved with the Edge. It actually went down from when I was using the SuperChips Flashpaq. I just switched from the Performance tune, and am now on my 1st tank of gas with the ECONOMY tune. We'll see if that offers me any mileage improvements.

I too have the Evo and am running the Extreme tune with 92 octane. I also have seen very little (1 mpg tops) improvement in mileage. And that is more then likely due to 92 octane vs 87, not the Evo. I also plan to try the Economy tune next. But I am going to stick with 92 octane on the economy tune first, then I'll try 87 octane and compare perf/mpg numbers. But, mileage aside, I am very happy with the Edge. I didn't buy it for mileage, I bought it for performance, and it definitely helps in that category.

I am curious to how the Wait4Me tunes in the SCT tuner that Jesse sells compare to the Edge Evo. If I were to go with Wait4Me, the SCT with 3 custom tunes seems like the way to go. You get Jesse's tunes and you get to keep your stock ECM/TCM and the ability to go back to stock and no crank relearn. Seems like the best of all scenarios, assuming the tunes are better than Edge's, otherwise Edge wins out due to the cool features it has that the SCT doesn't (PID Displays, etc).

I wish Edge would announce updates on it's website so I don't have to hook up my Edge to my computer just to check for them. Anyone know if there is a better way to check for updates?

I too have the EdgeEvo. I ran the Extreme tune for aobut 2 weeks, stomping the gas most of the time. I am on my 2nd week of using it in the Economy mode. I have seen a little better gas mileage with it in Economy. I went from 13.0/13.8 (around town) to 13.9/14.5 (same around town driving). So far, I am very happy with the Edge. I am really hoping they will have a feature to turn off the TM, or at least adjust it way down.

Does the Edge tuner take care of the throttle lag when you hit the gas after coasting and the 4 seconds of doom before going into WOT PE mode? Those are my biggest concerns right now, especially that stupid lag because I've just about been hit a few times when I'm coasting, pin the gas and wait for the truck to realize it wants to accelerate.

The Edge does not remove TM or "Abuse Mode", but it does significantly reduce the throttle lag upon acceleration. Especially the lag when accelerating while moving, it downshifts quicker and firmer. BUT, the big key is DO NOT "pin" the gas. When you stomp the gas or "floor it", the truck enters abuse mode and it kills your power. You are much better off gradually, but aggressively, stepping on the pedal. The throttle blade only opens so fast, so "flooring it" does no good. The days of throttle cables are long gone, so you really need to re-learn how to drive and optimize acceleration in these new trucks. Once you install the Edge and reset the adaptivity and let the truck relearn your driving habits with the Edge tune, you will notice significantly better throttle response.

Does the Edge take care of the 4 second PE delay?

Nope, but it still improves your 0-60 time from 9+ secs to low 7's. Now imagine if/when it does remove the delay. It does improve your launch somewhat though, my truck would not even come close to even chirping the tires, but it will now. No huge burnouts still, but it does break the big 20's loose. Once past that lag, she takes off like a raped ape though.

I also purchased the Edge Evolution - but my GMT900 had a file ( 1 of the 8 ECM codes) that comes stock with the truck , the EDGE program that you load on your home computer pulls that file - of which you e-mail them - they upload / update Wednesday Afternoons.

Their mail system has a Bayesian Filter that is basically a spam filter - alot of my emails were being dumped into there spam folder - youd be better off calling them and talking to someone directly and getting some form of verification of reciept of e-mail , assuming they got it cost me a few days ..

hopefully today my missing file will be uploaded and i too will be running on performance mode tomorrow ..

wait 4 me tune is great with about 1000 miles on it. Crank sensor done by dealer(free) and the truck has been in for warrenty work and the ecm tune was never a issue (they don t know). I have a ecm for a NBS 6.0 if anyoone is interested for about $225... It will break the tires for about 3-4 feet(both of them big 20s) now and I only have an 89 tune and havent yet tried 93 octane. Once you tune it and put it in leave it alone unless you make major upgrades to the motor.

How much $$ is this Edge tuner you guys speak of?

I got mine from www.modsfortrucks.com for $419.10 Shipped w/ free next day air. If you call the place they will give you a "custom" price quote. Also probably the best service i've gotten from any auto parts store ever. Also my first one arrived in a crushed box and the dash pod was damaged. I called them up and they said "Were sending you out a new one today next day air and ups will pick up the damaged one when the one is delivered."
