Plastic Pieces On Each Side Of The Shroud

I have an 05 silverado and the little plastic pieces that snap on the ends of the outer shroud rattle when going down the highway. Not sure what this part is called but it goes between the hood and the windshield on the ends. This noise drives me absolutely crazy. I put new ones on thinking the clips were getting worn out but no fix. Any suggestions would be great.

......just found the part #. It is 15287178 and 77. It's called an air inlet panel.

Is the noise from them flapping in the wind or is it a rattle against the cowl? If it's a rattle, why not pull them off and run a bead of clear silicone behind them where they touch whatever they mount to, then reinstall.

 

That should stop it. It has worked for me on several occasions.

 

IF you have a bug guard, the noise is likely from the turbulence created by it. (very common) Try removing it and going for a test drive.
