I have heard that at the factory they have to test the rev limiter and fuel cutoff. So each engine is reved to max right off the line.

Weed or Booze? You had to be on something. How did you get past 35mph? How long before you shifted? How's it riding now?

My 5.3 will go to about 5800 and do about 87-89 in second gear if I put it in 2 on the shifter. If I would have the speed l imiter removed and go on the salt flats or something of the like, I wouldnt doubt that it could do like 130+

I do know that the tranny wont let me do first over 4k.

In my '01 6.0L I've seen 70 MPH + in 2nd gear while pulling a 30' travel trailer. I don't remember the RPM's but I know it didn't hurt anything....

I was thinking the same thing. I've been at 60-70 in 2nd pulling a 7000 lb trailer with my 5.3L with 4.10. Now if I only had that 6.0 these hills wouldn't be that bad!

I have an '01 2500HD & 4.11 rear with a 5 speed manual and you definitely didn't hurt anything. Don't ask me how I know. My ignition cuts out between 98-100mph....................I heard
