Removing Bugs

I've been very neglectful and the front of the truck is coverd with splattered bugs and they have been there a long time. I can't seem to remove them with any of the standard bug and tar removers. They are really caked on. Any suggestions?

Hope the link works but soak them good with soap and warm water and with a piece of this sponge you can rub pretty hard with scratching. Will take a little patience. I cut these sponges into slices and use it for many other things such as leather, door panels, rims. Its abrasive but doesn t scratch.

I use Bug & Tar remover from wal-mart automotive. It works really well, but I always make sure you wash the area throughly afterwards and then re-wax it just to be safe.

I was at the GMC dealer a few months ago and the parts manager told me the GM glass clenaer they sell there takes bugs right off. I tried it on my bug deflector and he wasn't kidding, it really works good. Better than anything i ever tried before. I think its very cose it the invisible glass by Stoner, they could make it for them, not sure, but it works great.

I have used this stuff for years. I get it at NAPA. It is expensive though. I paid $40.00 a gallon, but it lasts a long time. You can also buy smaller bottles. It is made by seafoam and is a great product.

yep I use the 3M glass cleaner...spray it on...wait 20 seconds, wipe em right off....easy to use, no scratch, scraping and spray some meguiars detailer and you are good to go.

A lot of glass cleaners contain ammonia. Ammonia and strip off the wax off.

WD40 works great on bumpers! I use the bug and tar for the area around the hood protector.

If you still haven't gotten them off...I use a fishnet sponge. its a sponge with a fishnet like weave around it, almost like the sponge is in a bag.

Dish soap is good also, It totally removes the wax though.

DO NOT USE GLASS CLEANER ON YOUR PAINT.

The Safe Scrub Bug & Tar Sponge is a good bet. I use a regular 'bug sponge' from the local auto parts store and soapy water for most of the bugs on my truck. If I have gone on a long trip or have stubborn spots, then I break out the bug remover cleaners.

Be sure to follow the directions, some may actually remove the wax/polish (depending on what is in them) and you will have to re-apply those areas affected.

3M adhesive remover. After seeing what I did for the 40lbs of adhesive behind my tailgate bowtie, I can only assume it would handle bugs w/ no problem. It's paint and clear coat safe, just be sure to wax afterwards.

I use Maguires spray detailer and a microfiber towel. Spray the detailer on and leave it for a minute and then wipe the bugs right off.

I use Bug B Gone? and let it sit for a while. When the bugs are caked on from summer, it may take a couple of times but they will come off.

I use a mixture of battery acid and drano... let it soak for about 10 minutes and then use 40 grit sand paper to take off the bugs. Works every time... adds kick to my scotch and water too. Whatever is left I use to wash my dog.
