good morning!

i am having real problems trying to remove the calipers. the rears are all i've tried to this point (LR was where the metal tang was scraping). I've backed both the top and bottom bolts completely loose but cannot get them out of the caliper. do they even come out? do i have to pull the rotor off to do this? am i missing some sort of sequence or tool? DAMMIT!!!

hardheaded as i may be, i did make an attempt to buy a hanes/chiltons at the store when i got the pads this afternoon, but they didn't have one for the 2000+ truck. i was happy to not have drums on the back for a change and was hoping to get all four done before the sun went down. i could have done the front's of my z71 five times already!

thanks for any help!

Try removing the shield that sits behind it with 2 bolts, remove the bolts holding the caliper ..be ready to support the caliper with a coat hanger or something and not the brake line....tap the caliper away from the rotoer with a rubber mallet and it should work free...other wise spray liquid wrench on where the caliper is gripping the support bracket and whack with a mallet and it should pop/slide off... remember to use thread locker on the bolts when installing and proper torque on bolts...on my 04 hoe, it's 148ft pounds....
