I was planning on buying an Edge Evolution, but this caught my attention.

i looked at the edge .. but i like to tweak stuff ... which is why i switched over to diablosport ... would already have one, but place was on backorder when i tried to order ... waiting now to see more about this one ... i like the features they list .. including the full color backlit screen ... will be very interesting to see more info...

Looks COOL!!! Any idea on price? I think it's exciting to see ALL of the options becoming available to make our trucks kick A55!!! In a couple of years, we will be swamped with options. Yeehaw!!! (Did I just say "yeehaw"???) LOL

I have a question.

Is a handheld/dash mounted tuner comparable to a mail order tune say like W4M, etc???

Its nice to have some adjustability, instead of being stuck with 1 (or 2 with the T/H button) tunes.

i would say ... yes .. and no ...

the diablosport peices have a great deal of things that can be tweaked ... also with having the ability to run a datalog of your motor while you are driving ... you can take that information and fine tune it even more ...

so yes, you can tune it to fit your exact truck ... and even have a couple of different tune sets .. (for towing and performance etc) ... with this unit above ... but, it still may not be as precise of a tune as if you took your truck to one of the shops that does the tuning and put it on the dyno... but i would put this peice in line with the w4m ... mostly because you are getting a tune without your truck being there ...

of course i have neither right now, so take what i said with a grain of salt ... just makes sense to me ...

Makes sense to me also...

I am not planning to modd the crap outta my daily driver pickup thats used like a truck and beat around. I like a loud exhaust, some knobby meats and some extra power, but not to the point of trying to turn it into a sports car. I do like slammed and rodded trucks don't get me wrong, Its just not my style.

I also wash and wax and detail the truck whenever I get a chance, but I didn't buy it to be babied.

This is where the mail-order/ handheld tune comes in. I don't think I'll ever need a custom dyno tune on a truck thats used to tow haul and get dirty. Maybe some day after I buy a house and the truck's paid for...The Vette will get a custom tune and some serious modding.

once the price for this unit is announced .. it will most likely be the one i get .. less its modding ability is less then their normal handheld (which i dont see happening) ...

i just want the ability to fine tune a few programs for my truck ... but i would wrather make the tweaks myself instead of depending on someone else who 'sets it right' .. over the phone and i just have to trust that they have it perfect ...

Yeah it is nice to be able to say...ohh thats too rich/lean...gotta change the map here, here and here.

Or I don't get better fuel economy with this tune, lets try something else.

That, and the point of TM removal...you can try a lot of different combos and see what makes you happy, as well as the rear diff.

I think this is going to be my choice too.

But, does it come with the "pod"?

Curious to see how they mount it. I do like the idea of a full color screen. Edge makes one like that for their diesel applications, I can see them offering it for gas soon just to stay competitive!

If, it mounts like the edge one it will be pretty slick lookin. I just hope its not some shotty suction cup to windshield hack job mount...that would be pretty gay.
