Rough Idle Revisited

Hey Folks,

I know we've had several threads about having a rough idle with the new 2007 trucks -- I've read them all. I've got something of a rough idle myself (LT1 Crew Cab 5.3L). Being that I'm not a mechanic, I'm not quite sure as to the origin of the noise. It almost sounds like a clicking-type noise. Anyhow, up until yesterday, I figured I'd just have it checked out at the next oil change (not too bad so long as truck is run once a day). I've been out of town for the last weekend with work (truck hadn't run for 60 hours), and when I fired her up last night, the idle was EXTREMELY rough for the first 10 seconds. I mean it sounded like I was starting up a truck with 150K miles -- not 5000. It seemed to be a very heavy clicking/slapping type noise. This can't be normal for a brand new truck (my first new vehicle). What do ya'll think I should do? I REALLY appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

Wow that really suck. Not sure what you are hearing but check out my tread on the noises i am hearing and see if they are similar. Good luck to you

My 04 started that and it was especially bad after I drove it for a couple of miles. It would want to shut down completely. I ran some seafoam thru it and it has been fine. I also suspect my battery is about to go. Again, mine is a 04 with 47k on it. Yours has to be a mechanical problem, more like a sensor problem.
