Stereo Noise

I have a silverado NBS LTZ Crew

 

There is a high pitch noise coming from my stereo controls area that i can not seem to figure out? Any thoughts?? Is it electrical or a fan going bad on the unit?

Just a guess.... but I bet it's only happening when you are playing a CD? not happening while listening to XM or the radio?

 

From what I understand, this is normal..however I hate it.

It happens as soon as I open the door without starting the pickup and is constant regardless of what is playing. The sound is coming directly from the stereo head area. It is driving me nuts!!

i would carry it to the dealership and let them deal with it ...

 

but to get the radio out....

 

grab the trim peice around it .. and unsnap it .. yes it comes off and then remove 6 bolts .. that hold the radio and A/C controls in place .. and there you go.

How in the world does it unsnap? Are there picts of this somewhere or some instructions??

I've heard the same thing in mine as well. It does not intrude or diminish the quality of audio sound happening only when the ignition is off, but sure had me inquisitive. I have a guess and would be curious to where this goes... I'm guessing it is a part of the security system???
