99 F150

my buddy has a 99 f150 4x4 extended cab with a 5.4 auto trans. he has single in dual out flowmaster exhaust and a k&n drop in filter, and 3.73 true trac locker and 285's on his stock rims. he wants to race me sometime, he thinks his truck is the s**t, i have an 04 z71 extended cab with a 5.3 stock tires, and just an AEM dryflow drop in filter, my truck has 54000 miles on it and his has 86000 on it, do i have a chance at beatin him ?

You know I have never really had a ford eant to go up against me. I do remember one time a ford trying to race my in town and I was spankin him and then a car pulled in front of me and I had to go up on the side walk to miss the guy and the ford almost caught up but I still pulled ahead. I know that I could take your friend cause my truck beat a hemi... I have never gone up against a 5.3 though

I agree with Thunder Struck, 5.4 F150's feel like such dogs it's unreal. My buddies 05 did anyways, and it has the 300hp 3v 5.4, your buddies 99 would still have the 260 hp 2v 5.4l. I say give him hell, you'll probobly win.

thanks guy's i think i shouldnt have a problem beating him as long as i can keep traction, i just put on a set of firestone destintation a/t's so i should be good there, my truck has 3.73 gears by the way. BLKchevy, that is one badass truck u have there! very nice lookin

Sorry about my photo I didnt stretch on my browser but let mek now if its better I reduced it 50%.

My mods:

Exhaust- No muffler and High flow cats, which might be hurting me a little but I like it loud. Soon adding headers.

K&n air filter and box.

Mass Air flow sensor.

Throttle Body Spacer.

Superchips Programmer. I would like to get a newer flashpaq but I dont know if it is any better then what I got.

Another mod that I would like to do is Electric fan and Underdrive pulleys. Along with the headers should give me a little more hp.

I beat a brand new silverado ltz ext cab the other day (no idea the engine 4.8/5.3?) and all I have is a wait4me tune and an Outlaw intake on my 2000 with 135K miles. That Ford is going down...

Whats your truck run in the 1/4? Beat Hemi's...thats pretty good cause my 2000 Silverado 5.3L,4x4, with 3.73's wouldnt even come close to beating those Hemi's. My 2000 had Hypertech (which sucks), cat-back, and CAI. My stock 05 SS had troubles with modded Hemi's (superchip, CAI, cat-back, and 17's)? Modded, as mentioned, 4x4 Extended cab Hemi's in my neck of the woods run 15.0et's all day.

I own a QC 4x4 Hemi that's still faster by a hair than my 5.3 ext. cab 4x4 that has a custom tune. I was wondering the same thing.

Quad cab Hemi's run 15.5's from what I've seen around here. I raced a stock 4 door Daytona at the track and he ran a 15.6. It was a good looking truck too, silver with black Daytona Decals. Dont forget the extreme advantage you have over Hemi's....the ability to have real tuning!!! (plus a monster aftermarket). Reg cab short bed 2wd hemi rams put up really good fights. I raced one with superchips and loud exhaust, it was pretty close but he spun a bit off the get-go, I don't think his front bumper ever got past my doors. I posted the story here a while back. Hemi's can be dangerous with the right mods, but still suffer from tuning.

I would agree, Hemi's suffer severly from a lack of tuning. When my SS was bone stock, the QC 4x4 Hemi I ran had Superchip, CAI, cat-back with 17's. From a stand still I would beat him by a truck, from a rolling start he'd get me by a length. The same Hemi has since added LT's and runs a best of 15.0, not even close to me now.

A lightly modded Hemi would likely be an interesting race again a lightly modded 5.3 - depending on what they've got. But an F150? Most of those guys are well aware of the fact that they don't have any power, especially the new ones.

But don't bother with another off-the-shelf tuner - definately go for a custom tune. If you're going to win, might as well add another car length or 2.

All I know is that one morning before work I pulled up to one and you know how dodge hemi guys always seem to drive like dicks. And he was reving up his engine with windows down asking if I wanted to race. So I was like why not. we left the line and my truck jumped ahead spinning tires. When I was about Half a truck ahead, he caught up and then he was half a truck ahead. Then I started pulling up we were neck and neck for a little then I was like half a truck ahead and then his limiter kicked in and he was falling back fast... Needless to say he was pissed, but the good thing was I dont think that he had any knowledge that my truck probably should have hit the limiter a little before his, at least I think that his is a little more than what mine is stock. I was expecting him to talk junk about me having at least a tuner.

I dont know what my truck runs in the quarter! I want to run it and get in on the dino but I want to do the headers and electric cooling fan first.
