I hear a lot of negative on hear about the 4l60e transmission. How do I know what tranny I have? 5.3 litre 1/2 ton.

 

Oh, ya and my trans. also shifts hard from 1 to 2nd and vice versa, more so under light load or going up a sloght incline???

You have the 4L60-E.

Don't worry,There not as bad as some people say they are,However...Just like everything else,you do get a "bad apple" every now and then.

I've had 8 of them and never had any issues.

you have the 4l60e for sure, the 4l80 comes with the 6.0, oh and that shifting problem not to worry, from experiance. Stock tranny will handle the abuse for a long time on a stock engine.

1/2 tons with the 6.0 get the 4L70E, not the 4L80E.
