2008 Tahoe Dashlights Are Always On

my 2008 tahoe has dash lights that will always remain on when the car is on in the daytime. they run in the bright sunshine etc etc. the only time i can turn them off is at night when the headlights are needed. it almost seems like the light sensor is reading things backward. i cannot overide them with the drl cutoff switch or the intensity control knob in the daylight but at night both switches work fine.. yesterday while driving i turned off the drl and when it got dark enough to need lights the dash lights turned off.

In my 2007 Yukon Denali my gauges are hard to read during the day because of the dark color of the dash and the gauge backing. I wish mine were on all day. Maybe they changed it cause so many people complained of this.The dealer says they cant make them stay on.

wouldn't the extended run time of the dash lights burn them out or are they led's now?
