Help! Nav Problems

Put the nav unit in my 03 Z71 today. The unit is getting power, as the buttons backlight and they go up and down with the dimmer switch. When I turn the key on and plug the radio in, all audio works perfectly. CD works, XM works, radio works, but the screen is black!!! The screen can work, because when you cut the car off and then crank the car, the chevy bow tie shows up for a second and then the screen goes black. Nothing you do gets the screen to come back on. I know the unit needs to be unlocked from the dealer, when I turn the car off and then back on the audio doesn't work (which is a dead giveaway that the theftlock is on). If you just turn the switch to ACC, no bowtie on the display at all. So, what is the deal here. Is there anyway to reset the unit? Is teh screen just bad (if it is, then why des it come on and cut off. I could understand more if it didn't come on at all!)?? Anybody got any ideas??? HELP!!!

Could it be problems with the VSS? I don't know just throwing ideas out there.

I didn't hook up the vss yet. I was going to make sure the unit worked before I went through the trouble of splicing in the vss. SO its not a vss wire in the wrong place. Also, when I took it to the dealership to get it unlocked (hoping that may be the problem but it doesn't look that way) the tech guy said I have to have the vin# from the car it came from. Does this sound right? I have never seen anything on any other forum that requires the original cars vin#.

I put the TNR800 in my 04 Silvy a couple of months back, but didn't have the issue you're having. It was a used unit, so the screen would come up with 'Theftlock Activiated' in big blue letters. I had to bypass it by pulling the fuse and battery cable and turn the key to accessory. When I put the fuse back and hooked the cable back up, it would play and work perfectly until I started the truck or turned the key off. Got the local dealer to unlock it for me and it works great.

I hate to say it, but if you're not seeing anything past the bowtie, it sounds like you may have an issue with the unit (assuming it's a TNR800). Hope I'm wrong.

Best of luck with it.
