98 Suburban 4x4 Steering/brakes

First thing, HI! I've found some helpful info on here. A few weeks ago I bought a well maintained 98 suburban 4x4 with 150,000 miles and i'm about to start spending some green on this toy. While shopping and driving a few Chevys around this year model, I noticed how loose the steering was and spongy the brakes felt on these trucks. Are these common problems or just how they are? What can you do to fix this if it is normal? Hell, maybe it's just me.

Those are common problems on all vehicles, not just Chevy's. For the steering problem I would have all the front end components checked like the Tie Rods, Center link, Pitman & Idler Arms and Ball Joints. For the Brakes you could have worn rubber hoses or possibly a master cylinder. I don't know how much you want to spend but if you want a brake upgrade I would go with Powerslot rotors, Hawk pads for the front and SS brake lines all around. Those are just some ideas, I'm sure other guys will chime in with their thoughts as well. Just remember the truck may be in great looking shape, but it still has 150k on it. I think a few repairs as suggested above and you'll be good to go. Welcome to the site.
