Putting New Engine In Stuck

Recommended Posts

I am in the proccess of taking my truck apart to put my new engine in. I was trying to take off the big main metal piece (I have no idea what its called) everything like the radiator, lights, fan, bumper, and side fenders connect to it. the question is do you have to take off the Side fenders to take that off.

Thanks

You talking about the radiator core support? You should be able to remove the core support but once you got that out of the way you will want to take the fenders off anyways! It will make things so much easier!

Oh sorry yes 1992 silverado Z71 and i think it is core support sorry the name didnt come to me at the moment. BLKchevy i got the same exact truck as you except mine is a 1992

It makes it a little easier to pull the engine straight out instead of up and over! And makes it a million times easier to do engine work when mounted in the truck! I guess it depends on how you prefer to work on it!

is it possible to pull the engine out without takin those off? I assume it would be a pain in the ass thats why i did it

I pulled an engine and tranny out of a 79ish leaving them on. Taking them off makes all the other work a lot easier. Plus it isn't too hard to pull them off, and they are less likely to get beat up, depending on where you stick them in the mean time.

Working in my dads shop, we have never pulled any fenders or radiator core supports off to take out the engine, and 40 percent of the times we would pull it out with the tranny.
