2005 Use 17 Inch Wheels What About Other Years?

I've been reading some posts and I see guys have 16 inch wheels and tires. Was 2005 an exception or was their a change along the way? Will 16 inch wheels fit on a 2005? Caliper clearance issues?

17" wheels were first optional for '04 on the pickups,but standard starting in '05 because GM upped the size of the frt. calipers/rotors.

16" wheels will not fit your '05 due to this.

What is interesting is that HD trucks continued to use 16 inch wheels through at least 2006. So the front rotors/calipers are actually smaller on HD versions than on 1500 series? Makes little sense.

Man, I'm glad I asked. I was starting to polish up some old 16 inch aluminum wheels that would of taken a lot of work to get right. THANK YOU!!

yes I am promoting the Wiki here, but with good cause, the 2007 YM Classic, the official wheel size for the 2500HD was 16" and that information can be found here:

as well as the 3500HD models also had 16" rims, interesting huh?

#1500 and #25-3500 series are two different birds. The #2500up have much heavier components and the brakes are no exception. #1500 series have to pass CAFE fuel economy and anything over 8600GVW does not.
