Truck Bed Cover Questions..

hey guys another question!

 

well I'm looking at cover for my 04 z71 6'6" bed and i need some feedback

this one

 

i am willing to do a little modification to my over the rail bed liner as i would like to keep the lip so that the top of my bed rails don't get all chipped up

 

I'm looking at a model right now from jcwhitney thats 189$ with free shipping.. its just a regular snap on heavy duty vinal cover.

 

i am not looking to spend an arm and a leg on this cover because its only really gonna get used in the winter time to keep the snow out and then on camping trips.. ( so i can stop looking like a hillbilly with everything all strapped down back there..

 

does anybody have any experience with these covers and if so where did you pick one up at?

That looks like it is using snaps instead of velcro to hold it shut. From what I've heard, snaps are a complete PITA, especially in snow & ice.

You will be happier with the velcro in the winter months, if it is used as all.

 

I had a rubber/plastic type that fit in a grove years ago. It was a bear (PITA!) when it even started to get cold.

 

Just a suggestion, look around for an inexpensive velcro cover.

Don't know what you are wanting to spend but I bought an Access brand cover that works really well. You'd have to lose the over the rail liner though. Most of the covers mount to the inside lip of the bed.

 

As far as JC Whitney goes. I have ordered from them a few times and always got my stuff. I don't know if that is an endorsement, but I haven't had any bad experiences with them.

Last time I ordered from JCWhitney was back in the late 70's (I think that was the time frame). Had sent them a check for several hundred dollars worth of stuff, which they cashed and then filed bankruptcy and therefor lost several hundred dollars. Anybody remember those days?? Never have ordered from them again since I have never been able to let it go although I here many people have and received their orders and all was fine.

thanks for all your help guys... they have a model on there that is a little bit more but its better and it has velcro... i think i'm just gonna go with that... thanks for the advice about the snaps!!!

thanks for all the suggestions guys i was able to pick a LEBRA toneau cover from pepboys for 169... put it on tonight and it looks great!!
