Towing With The Edge Programmer

At what point do you guys with an Edge programmer change the programming to the "TOWING" mode? I was wondering at what point the towing weight makes enough difference to need the different program. Thanks.

When you feel that the motor is working a little harder to pull something, then change the programming. There's no set weight. My truck pulls just fine though, I just towed my buddy's 96 Z-28 Camaro a couple days ago about 35 miles and my 5.3L didn't have much problem with it...First time I ever towed a vehicle though (on a trailer, I've flat towed several times) so I don't have much comparison.

What do you tow? With my 3000-3500 lb boat/gear, using the Towing tune along with Tow/Haul was WAY overkill. I just got my Edge in Sept, so I haven't towed much with it yet since my boat is now in hibernation. But it seems for me the best bet is to either use the Tow tune without tow/haul mode on or use the Economy tune with 91 octane and Tow/Haul. I will do more experimenting next spring to figure out the best combination.

Will be picking up a new 21' bass boat in a few weeks and will be pulling it about 275 miles home from dealer. I have not had to tow much weight at all since adding the programmer, so I was wondering what others here are doing with the settings and the Tow/Haul modes.
