Questions About Headers?

I currenty have a set of pacesetter headers on my 2000 Silverado, i want to upgrade the headers to a set of Edelbrock ti-tech ceramic coated shorty headers, is the ceramic coating that much good and effective and worth the time and money??? I do want lower the temperature under the hood though and i was told that ceramic coated headers do lower the temperature?

Also, is was also looking at the option of choosing a set of long tube headers, but im very unfamiliar with what they can do, can anyone tell me the performance difference between shorty and long tube headers?

Can share some experiences with different types of headers on your truck?

I've been told that the NBS has pretty good exhasut manifolds (pretty close to shorties) and long tubes are the way to go for max gains.

I do have a set of Shorty Edelbrock Ti-Techs on my 94 Silvy and couldn't be happoer with them...they are also holding up great even with our salty Ohio winters after three years. The hotter they get and cure after time...they'll actually take on a pinkish color and get really hard.

As far as engine bay temps...it won't make that much difference either way IMHO (it didn't on my 94).

Let me know what you decide on because I want to put something on my 04' Sierra SCSB

If you're going to do headers you have to go 1 3/4" long tubes. Shorties aren't worth it because the stock manifolds are pretty efficient.

A friend of mine has 1 5/8" shorty headers on his Silverado and it wasn't much of a gain. Felt like 5-8 hp maybe.
