So I have a new set of tires that I'm putting on my stock wheels. I'm doing this at work because we have tire change equipment there and I don't want to get gouged by a tire shop (In Canada, ordered my tires from tire rack and already saved 800 bucks). So what the heck do I do about the tire pressure monitors??

 

Do I need to buy new monitors, or can I just reuse the ones in my current tires? How the heck do I switch them over anyhow, does anyone have any links? I've never swapped tires myself on a vehicle with the pressure system, on my Jeep SRT8 I had it done at a shop and they nailed me for "screwed up seals" on the sensors.

The TPM sensors are a new two-part type--the valve stem and the monitor. Both are held together by a screw. I'd unscrew the monitor from your valve stem on your old wheels, leave the stem in the old ones and buy a new stem for the for wheel change-over and install the new stems and the OEM monitors in your new wheels. Put the wheels back on your truck IN THE EXACT POSITION SIDE THEY WERE REMOVED and you're good to go. If you switch any of the wheels from side or position, you'll have to relearn the TPMS wheels.
