Manual Transfer Case Question

My Jeep Grand Cherokee would shift from 2HI to 4HI fairly easily. In my 07 Sierra, the lever seems hard to pull, comparitively. Is this normal or should it shift into 4HI easily?

The first time I shifted mine into 4HI I thought it was rather hard to pull as well. However, I just tugged it. I've found it shifts easier the warmer it is (duh!) and better if you're going a bit slower although you can apparently shift at any speed. It is still a good tug to switch back and forth but I think they made it that way on purpose. So you really have to intentionally want to go into or out of 4HI/2HI. I've been doing it to mine for a year and a half now with 0 problems and it works every single time. I've had the electric switch ones before and I actually like the manual one better. I feel and know it's going in rather than just hitting a button. I do miss Auto 4WD at times though...have a good one.

Thanks very much. I was pretty sure it was OK, but I thought I had better find out for sure.

Mine is the same way, but it has over 170K miles on it so I'd say you are good.

I didn't know you could still get manual X-fer cases on newer trucks, that's good to know I'd rather have a manual one myself.

Yeah, it was a major selling point for the WT, to me. After dealing with the electrical system in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, I decided the less electrical stuff the better.
