Nbs Extended Cab

First of all I have a 2007 NBS Sierra extended cab. When I was cleaning out the insides of the doors after it had rained I closed my passenger side suicide door and I saw it shake back and forth momentarily when it hit the door frame. Then I pushed on the door from the inside and to my surprise it moved about an inch outwards. So, I opened the door again and closed it, and it did the same thing. I then opened it and closed it pretty hard and then I tried to push it and it didn't move. I figured out that the top latch was not, well latching completely. But, when I went to try the same thing on the drivers side I could only replicate it if I barely pushed the door closed. I think this is kinda weird how it will only do it on one side and its not that I am not pushing hard enough and also it sounds like its closed. What I think it might be is that just one side is more worn in then the other. But has this happened to anybody else?

Funny, I just noticed almost the same thing at work last night. if you didnt shut the rear door hard enough, it would have a little play. I guess when you shut the front door, it shuts it all the way. Like you, it only did this when you shut the door lightly. Guess its like any other door?

Its happened a few times to me, i'll close it and start to drive and notice a rattle, if i push with my left hand on the top of the rear right door it has some play, so i just pull over and reclose the door. Not a bige deal, i'm sure it can be adjusted in the spring...to cold now i was thinking mybe becuase its 15-20 degrees here....

my 14 year old normally keeps it slammed pretty good tho.

I have a CC, so no issues here, however, I wanted to comment on the "14 year old" statement. I have a 15 yr old daughter and I had to threaten her "well-being" the first few times she rode in my truck (she was still 14 at the time). She is by no means a strong girl, but my GOD, when she slammed that door I swear it was Hulk Hogan out there slamming the door so hard I thought the fricken thing was going to permanently imbed into the cab.

After a few harsh scoldings and a lesson showing how it takes only one finger to close it, let's just say she closes it nice and gently now.

I had this problem with my extended cab also, only on the passenger side. I took it into the dealership and no longer have to slam it!

people who slam the doors shut on my vehicles learn how fast they get to walk.

ofcourse i dont like people adjusting the seats so i put a kill switch on them.and dont mess with the sun visors.wear dark glasses..maybe im too picky?lol

I've marveled at how easy the doors close on my GMT900 almost Rolls-Royce like, but after reading this, I checked my Extcab driver's side rear door and it too had about an inch of movement. A firm closing snugged it up though. I'll be keeping an eye on this now.

I noticed the same thing last week on my drivers side rear door. What tipped me off was how the top of the back door was pushed up higher than the top of the front door. So I played around with both rear doors and of course the passenger side was perfect, but the driver would actually ride up on the top latch and I had to slam it to get the top to latch. So I adjusted the top latch on the door up and shazaam! its alot better now. You know it's kinda funny how we all have just noticed it recently.

Hate to hijack but a quick story about a friend of mine.

His 21 year old son who had moved out on his own came home to his Dad's one day in a new to him Mustang GT. My friend admired it and then told his son he wanted to drive it. He eased out in to the highway, clutched it, took the RPMs up and let'er rip. He spun through first, smoked on into second and gave it a good thrashing up the highway and back. He said when they got back into the drive his son asked him just what he thought he was doing. My buddy said he told him, "I just wanted you to see how it feels to have someone run the cr@p out of your car. Now we are even".

Just wait until your children get their own car and the first time you ride with them, slam the door, put your feet on the dash and spill some kool aid in the carpet.

I have the same problem. Thinking it could be because the dealer had the truck for over 280 days before they sold it. But all it takes is a just alittle harder on the door push to close it, i got the hang of it so its not bother me any more.

And Vmax no one should be able to mess with a mans truck, it is his royal coach. I shut my door really hard cuz its my truck and i treat it ruff, but my wife thinks its okay for her to do it also. She has recieved threats, warnings, and threats of night time head shavings, if she try's it anymore, at one point she wouldnt close the door at all. She would leave it open and walk away, but i got that fixed. Now she asks me "can I close it" and does so nicely. Although she tells me that i close the Door on the HHR way to hard, I come back with well i pay for it so i can do whatever i want.

Teenagers/Wifes no respect for a man and his truck.

I am gonna remember that. 20 years from now, when i have a child at the driving age, I will do this and break the car in half. But only if they do stupid stuff to mine. But the coolaid is a for sure. Nice story man.

i am so going to have to do that when my kid gets old enough!!!

i just checked my door .. sure enough on the pass side if you just 'normally' close it ... the door will have play at the top .. but slaming it... and it doesn't ...

how is it that you adjust it? .. i didnt have time to look at it much ...
