Instrument Lights

So i bought a used 99 sierra sl and didn't realize the instrument lights didn't work until i drove it at night. The place i bought it from tried a new gauge cluster and that didn't fix it. All fuses in dash and under hood were ok. What i need to know is if they come on with the Daytime running lights or if they come on with the headlight switch.

Your instrument panel will come on automatically with the automatic headlights, but not the DRLs.

So i guess that eliminates the switch because the automatic headlights work. It must be between the fuse box and the guages.

I wish I could help you with this one but I don't have the knowledge.

I always purchase used cars, my new car days are long gone. Anyway, I had one that had a similiar problem. I'm trying to recall what it was. It was a similiar situation. My mechanic checked everything. And everything checked out correct. I was paying for his time. Finally he offered me a solution. He spliced into whatever wire from dash that controlled item (I forget - could have been dash lights) and ran a wire directly to dash fuse box. All fixed. I don't know if this will help you any. But anyway. $0.02
