6sp Tsb Out

Was at the dealer today getting oil change and a new rim/tire. Asked about any tranny program changes and the tech found TSB 07-07-30-030 covering all 6sp trucks. Came out a few weeks ago. I read it and says something like: improving downshift repsonse at 35-70mph. they loaded it, but only drove 5 mi. home. It appears to be better at these speeds, but I just don't have enough time on it yet. I won't really know untill i take a trip on some faster rural roads which could be a couple weeks, however I'm happy that gm has attempted to solve it. It is still upshifting early like before, but if it comes out of it easier it should improve the responsiveness. Time will tell.

Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle has a hesitation or lack of performance when attempting to accelerate with moderate throttle apply in the 56-113 km/h (35-70 mph) range. They may also comment that it is difficult to obtain transmission downshifts in the same 56-113 km/h (35-70 mph) range.

 

Correction

A revised transmission calibration has been developed to address these issues. Reprogram the transmission control module (TCM) with updated calibration files using the TIS2WEB Service Programming System (SPS) application. As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.

 

Important: These calibrations will be "selectable" and should only be used to correct a customer concern as detailed above. Use of this calibration in a vehicle without these concerns may result in comments of busy shifting.

Will, when you do have it updated, please report back with your opinion. I still haven't taken mine in for the other TSB's fixes it needs (I haven't had the time), but I'm interested in what this latest transmission TSB will do. Thanks!

Maybe this will cure my 4 to 3 clunk when reapplying gas after slowing down. --Shucks, I can't get to the dealer for a couple of weeks.

I've got the same clunk, but after driving it for 9 months my right foot has been conditioned so it never happens anymore. So even with the new TCM program in now, I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell if it fixed that too? Again, time will tell.

I tried to make time to get in to my dealership today to have this TSB addressed but no dice. Looks like it's going to be a post-Christmas fix.

Took a short trip yesterday, it is better. Still upshifts too early, but don't have to keep pushing pushing pushing when you hit a hill to downshift. So the hunting problem going up long hills is gone too. Used to be about 1/2 throttle or more, now is 1/4 or less, much better. It was on 35-50mph rural roads, still need to get it on faster 45-60mph rural roads to see for sure, but looks good so far. It is about the same as my wifes Y-XL denali is now. Got hers in Aug. so maybe she got the update at delivery before it became a TSB?
