1999 Tahoe Shifting Problem

Recommended Posts

I have a 1999 tahoe shifts perfectly fine until i push it to the floor then it tends to run out of power and teh motor seems to lay over. And also takes a while to shift into gear. This is every gear not just overdrive. Has anyone else ever had this. Almost like somethings plugged. Do you think maybe my cat. converter is plugged?

Gonna have to start with the basics. Fuel pressure, etc...

Hook up a fuel pressure gage-you should be getting 60-65 psi. If lower, replace the fuel pump.

Engine state of tune...plugs,wires,cap/rotor,etc...

If all of that is good,go to an exhaust specialty shop and have the cats backpressure checked.

I'm going with a plugged fuel filter or faulty fuel pump...classic complaint in post 1.

Ill chagne the fuel filter tomorrow and see what happens i hope thats all that is wrong. If not what else could it be?

It could be alot of things. How many miles are on the truck? What has been done to it in the past?

There is only 88000 miles on the truck. The truck hasnt pulled anything besides to snowmobiles on a trailer. And it is also completely stock.
