Not sure if anybody has seen the official GM press release yet or not. Basically, GM is offering the 6.2L V8 in the 2008 Tahoe LTZ model. And of course, it automatically includes the 6L80 six-speed automatic.

It's already an option when you build one on-line. I imagine the rest of the GM truck line-up should get the new engine/trans fairly soon as well.

HMMMMM I think in a year or two, it might looking pretty good to trade my truck in for the Silverado/Sierra with the 6.2 and the 6 Speed....

just priced it @ $47,148.94 fully loaded and knocking off $3000.00 (which gets it down to invoice) means $44,148.94 sounds like a very good deal on the 2008 Tahoe, but I would rather have a truck with a bed that I can use.

Does the 6.2 require AWD like in the Denali, or can you get a part time 4wd system like in the 6.0 and 5.3 LTZs

I think that is why they put it on the Tahoe (To test market demand for 2WD vs 4WD)

So the Burb did not get the option, along with the Tahoe?

Thats nuts not having a 4wd option.

I have passed on the AWD many times, because it seems a waste of fuel IMO, but I always order 4wd. Auto trac is a great feature in the winter, but in the summer it seems like such a wast to be stuck with AWD.

The only AWD truck I have ever owned is the Commander, and that thing sucks fuel like no other, My part time 4x4 suburban gets better milage than my much smaller AWD Commander.

no the burban does not have the option at this time...but it is coming sooner than the trucks

I'm sure the new Tundra based '08 Toyota Sequoia (Full-size SUV) helped encourage GM as well. Esp since it includes the optional 381hp 5.7l V8. Last I heard, the main thing holding back the 6.2 and six-speed was GM's ability to build them fast enough. So I'm sure it'll start to roll out to other vehicles and configurations soon enough.

And it does help put the Tahoe on my list of future vehicles.

And when you do that you can go ahead and shoot the Denali my way. :nono:

Hah! Ok, I guess I should clarify... that list is far in the future. And the Denali is still at the top.
