What is the procedure for adjusting the door? When the door hits the striker, it brings it up to the right height. However, the rear of the door is too low. Thanks for your help!

thats because the hinge pins and bushings are worn out ,with the door 1 ft from the latch, lift up on the bottom of the door, you will feel the slop,I suggest taking it to a professional.

It's fairly easy to do door bushings, get a friend to help because those doors are heavy! :nopity: I can do a set in a matter of minutes with help. Most auto parts store stock them. The fancy shops even have a nice rig to hold the door for them and they still rape you with labor. GMtech4, the reason most people post here is to try avoid going to a "professional" and seeing if they can get some help to fix it themselves.

Hey guys, thanks for the replys! The door actually doesn't have any slack in it...believe it or not. The truck doesn't have too many miles. I can't see any signs of an accident either(frame stress) which I have seen happen before with these models. It's just to low in the rear??? I have replaced those bushings on a blazer before....no big deal, but I was wondering if anybody else had adjusted their door anyway (it being welded and all :nopity: ). I'm thinking about hooking the massey ferguson to it lol. Thanks again for all of your help!

Yeah this tread helps me out a bunch cause it looks like I am going to have to replace my bushings on my door!

Is the top right corner of your door from the outside chipped from touching the cab when close? Thats how bad my door is... It never closes right when I close the door with a light push.

The door isn't chipped yet because when it hits the striker, it pulls it up. The weird thing is there isn't any slack in it. If yours has slack however, a simple new pin and bushing will make it like new.

Thanks for the help guys. After further examination, it looks as though the bushing is wore out.....but the door does not move up and down like I would expect it to??? Oh well, I ordered the bushing kit and we'll see how that goes.

Thanks again,

Yeah there is no play in my door either. I expect that the bushing/pin has warped over time. Those doors are pretty heavy. When you get your kit installed let me know how it went!

I have been working on cars for many years. In fact I have NEVER taking my car anywhere for service as I do all my own work. I came on here to see if someone who has already seen the same problem as I had could assist. Sorry about not having enough information. Thank you for your addition to the thread.
