2007-2008 Underhood Toolbox?

A salesman at my work just got a new 2008 CC 1500 silverado, and he told me the salesman told him gm had an underhood toolbox that fit in the empty place where the extra battery would go up front.

 

Is this true of BS?

I haven't heard of one. I would be interested if it weren't $199.95. I bungied a $3 plastic tool box to mine.

GM used to make such a tool box some years ago for the then current models. Not aware of anything for the currint GMT-900s. This topic has come up before. Do a search.

I tried that approach. Bought the smallest of three different sizes they had at WalMart. I could barely get the box in under the cross brace, and then had to take the brace off to get the box out so I could take it back to WalMart to get my money back. Good idea, just not practical.

I did this. I got mine at Wal-Mart, placed it in the unused 2nd battery tray, Cut out a "relief" for the WW fill tube and for the hood release cable, and installed a spacer for the bottom so I could bolt it down evenly. No lid, unfortunately, so I put my jumper cables and folding shovel in a canvas bag within the box.

Thanks guys...I had the guy at my work call his salesman and the salesman told him the box from the 88-98 trucks would fit....I dunno.
