Regular Cab 2007 Nbs Question

I am thinking of buying a left over 2007 GMC sierra 2500HD regular cab 4X4. Just wondering if anyone has towed a 30' 6000# travel trailer with one of these and the 3:73 rear end? I had towed with a 2000 2500 crew cab and the 350 vortex with 3:73's. The 2000 did OK, but you had to plan your passing and hillclimbing very carefully. I also had a 2002 GMC sierra 2500HD 6.0 crew cab for two years and that had 4:10's and did only slightly better than the 2000. I guess I am wondering if the 6-speed gearing will help things with the 3:73's.

 

Aside from towing, what type of general fuel mileage should I expect with 70% Highway and 30% City?

I hope it is a diesel. Practically, there is NOT a 30 ft trailer that weighs 6K, in reality, though the trailer specs do thier best to be deceptive. That is what the framework weighs.

No diesel, just the 6.0

 

I am just guessing at the 6000#, Its a 30' Jayco with no slide out. The tag on the camper says 4995# and I figured with all our stuff, propane, water, ect. it would be at least 6000#.
