2000 Silverado Radio

I have a 2000 Silverado. Several of the buttons no longer lightup and the CD player makes some strange noises. I plan to replace the radio with a factory replacement and would prefer to upgrade to a radio with a MP3 input. Does anyone know if such a radio exists?

No factory 1995-2002 radio will play MP3s, but P.I.E. manufactures an adapter that converts the external cassette/CD player input into an auxiliary input.

I've been looking to replace the stock radio/cd in my '02 but after seeing those prices I might just get something aftermarket instead .

Personally I like aftermarket stuff better. They will put more power to your speakers and most come with the option of a remote control which is nice to have if you don't have steering wheel controls..

I agree. If you don't mind having something in your dash that doesn't look factory, you'll be much happier with an aftermarket head unit.

Thank you for all the great feedback. I've considered aftermarket, and the feedback indicates that is the best way. Thanks to all who responded
