Anyone else have Nextel? Anyone else PO'ed about their phone upgrade pricing. My lord.......the cheapest phone with a new contract is $125!!! They go up steeply from there and the phones aren't really that great. The one they have for $125 now, I got last year for free! I thought there was some lawsuit going on with this company???? Anyone know??

I dropped those bastards because of their prices and cust. svc was for crap, ever since they merged with sprint it has gone down hill A%$ over tea kettle in a hurry. the service was horible in my area. I have cingular now its AT&T and love it. What put me over the edge was when I was deployed I sent them a copy of my orders like the other 2 times and they suspend my contract till I return home free of charge. Well long story short was getting set to deploy and was going for a about a year and wanted to cancel my contract they refused and said i had to pay a fee. I payed the 200 cont. cancellation fee because they said they wouldnt even do a suspension and were rude to boot. Dropped them and that was that

We learned quickly in our part of the world, Nextel stands for; "NEXt time you are near a TELephone, you need to use it because you have no coverage with us".

Why not just switch carriers? I've always been happy with my AT&T service here... I realize that might not be the case where you are.

Because I use direct connect walkie talkie and because of my contract.

The service is actually OK compared to the others here, so that's not a problem.

I just think they should have better deals on the phones. A new customer can get the $125 phone for $20. That's just horrible. I am a paying customer and I get the higher prices. It just don't make sense.

I have Nextel, no problems here I do have to admit the phones are outragiousley priced over $300.00 for the i880 but I do like it alot and gotta love the chirp feature, I've talked to people in Kentucky from Detroit and was as clear if they were in the next room. Nextel just doesn't work in rural areas mainly urban cities

I subscribe to nextell too. Seems every one in construction around here uses the direct conect, alot don't even have the phone part activated. So I'm forced to use them. They are extremely expensive. My cell just endured a trip through the washing machine, service plan/no insurance. Too replace it normally would cost=$475. I'm elegible for rebates, my cost=$280. Still sucks!

AH... that does make good sense. The 2 way thing is great for business use. The "upgrade" price doesn't seem much like they want to keep their customers.

Around here we call them Nex-call due to there service problems, dropped calls, choppy conversations due to weak signals. Direct connect does not make any sence, why not just talk to them on the regular cell phone mode? I had them for about 2 yrs and couldnt wait to go back to Verizon which I left for Nextel (big mistake). I guess it sounds cool when other people hear somebody talking on the direct connect with the chrip's and the friggin voice coming through the speaker so everybody else can here too. When I used mine I never had it on speaker and used it in pirvate mode. Junk-tel, nex-call are just some of the names people around here call them. And yes there customer service did suck.

AT&T has push to talk; I just upgraded my Nokia to a 6085 and it has the P2T feature, the phone was $30 for another 2 year contract.

I'm pretty sure Verizon has it's own version of push to talk as well.

I have Nextel and Verizon Wireless, and I just have to say that the difference is like comparing a pet rock to have a dog as a pet. I especially love Verizons New Every 2 plan. I get a new phone up to like a $100 value. Sometimes I pay a little extra to get a realy good phone, but the phone for $100 are the popular ones. I am still using a i530 nextel. I feel like I still have a computer with only Dos prompt. haha

I am getting a new Verizon phone in Feb, I am going to get the water resistant/shock proof phone! Its pretty sweet!
