2004 Silverado Z71 4x4 5.3L V8. 27,000 miles on truck. Speedo will stay at zero while driving or bounce all over the place or be working fine. dealer has replaced Instrument panel cluster 5 times! and said that they keep getting bad ones and will keep trying until they get one that works. Took truck to different Chevy dealer in a different town, once again Instrument panel cluster repair no change. Other owners on this site have mentioned a Speed Sensor in my transfer case maybe the problem??? Any advice would be great..

I highly don't you have got 5 bad clusters. Check the dark green/white wire circuit 817 speed sensor signal to cluster for a int. open. Here is the wiring diagham for your truck.

:D

Sorry for the late THANK YOU! Just took a look at what you sent and going off that I'm almost betting its the Vehicle Speed Single on the Supplemental Brake assist pump motor side. Reason I say so is because my Cruise control will still work even when the speedo is at zero, lately its how I keep the Truck at speed limit, I set the cruise when the speedo is working to get ready for when it stops. Any way the other day when the speedo was not working then started, the screen said Service Brake Booster also when speedo is not work 60% of the time it will start at my first stop or basically when I put pressure on the brakes. However it could be a coincidence and I may never have a fully working speedo again! It is sad that I'm now able to drive knowing my speed using the RPM gauge a steady 1,000 RPMs is 40mph and 1,500 is 50mph. Thanks again

I just returned from picking up my '03 Yukon from having the IPC replaced(done for free under the Special Condition Adjustment). About 2-3 miles down the road I got the Service Brake Booster message as well. What the heck is up with that?

EDIT:

Nevermind......found answer here: Booster Bulletin
