Transmission Slipping And Tow Haul Mode Will Not Activate

The tranny in my truck started yesterday to feel like it is slipping from 2nd to 3rd, and then 3rd to 4th. Also the Tow/Haul mode quick activating at the same time. This isn't a regular torque management issue. The truck starts out fine, even if I get on it.

 

I checked the level hot, and it is between the cold and hot marks. A little low, but I didn't think that would cause a big problem. It isn't a nice red like it should be, but it doesn't smell burnt nor is it completely brown. The last time I change the fluid and filter was at 60,000. It has 99,000 on it now.

 

I was initially thinking the tranny was going south, but the Tow/Haul mode not working has me thinking a computer problem.

 

Anybody have any ideas as to what could be going on?

Well, today the tow haul came on and wouldn't go off. Then after awhile it would go off, then wouldn't come back on. While it was in tow haul mode, the tranny still didn't act right. Is there any warning lights to inform you of a tranny problem?

 

I guess a trip to the dealership is on order, but I hate going to the dealership for this kind of work. I'm afraid they'll rake me over the coals.
