Csk In A Vmax

I noticed my engine started knocking a bit today when it was cold/in gear. I just hit 3,000 miles and did my first oil change over the weekend. Used Penzoil 5W30 (dino). It sounds a lot like the way my 2000 Tundra did when it first started to develop CSK. Has anyone else had a 6.0 in a Vmax develop CSK? I thought that an all aluminum block with iron sleeves would have less tendency to do this versus an iron block. My 2003 Silverado 5.3 never made any engine noises over the 5 years I had it.

Thanks.

Mines quiet,I have just over 9,300 miles on it.

I ran Pennzoil 5W-30 (Dino) for the first couple oil changes,Then switched over to Mobil1 around 5,500 miles.

My '07 runs a little rough when first started cold, but no knocking/piston slap/noisey lifters, etc. Now my '03 has the piston slap noise, but it has over 150K miles now, still runs strong and doesn't burn any oil either.

Edit: Using Mobil 1 5W-30 in both

Mine started a dry lifter noise after changing to Mobile1 10w30 for about 20 secs at start up. Dropped a quart of it and added lucas oil treatment so far so good but it has been only a few days.

What I heard this morning sounded like a deeper knock than what a tapping lifter sounds like. I lived with bad CSK (never stopped, even after truck warmed up) on my Tundra for over a year before I traded it in, and this sounds just like the noise it used to make way back when it first started. That was the whole reason I came back to GM after a short experience with Toyota. Hopefully I'm wrong about this one.

did a quick check and there is no TSBs for your condition (Yet - who knows with GM)

I dunno about csk, but I had some belt noise when starting in cold weather that was remedied last week with a replacement belt. Just about 5400mi on the clock.
