06yxl2500 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Thinking about aftermarket grilles but have never had one before. Above everything else, I want functionality so I don't want to have any overheating or any other kind of airflow problem? Is this something to worry about? I noticed in some of the manufacturer's installation guides they say to check your owner's manual for air flow needs. Are certain designs better than others for max airflow?
Zembonez Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I've had billet grilles on quite a few trucks... never noticed any change in cooling.
iminaquagmire Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 With my billet, I actually saw an increase in airflow. Mine is spaced pretty far apart though and is a cut-out.
DEV1ST8R Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 As long as it's not a solid sheet of metal, it should be good to go.

papapump51 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 No issues with my temp - Putco Billet punch grill ( cheese grater as Zem would call it ) love it - painted the threads a brackets black you can not see them at all looks sharp to

Tylerz71 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Ive never had a single problem with mine since the Putco Shadow series I put over my stock grille. Definitely not a factor with an aftermarket grille. But, I do see where the bullet-hole type could restrict flow.
