Rear Brake Locked

After changing my rear brake pads, I started driving and noticed a lot of drag on the truck. If I let off the gas I started slowing down pretty fast and I had to give it extra gas to go. I had to go a few miles and when I got there I could smell the brakes and the rotor was scorching hot. Both rear rotors were really hot but one was a lot hotter than the other. I noticed when I was changing the pads that they didn't wear evenly and the inside of the one that got so hot, wore a thinner strip in the middle and had some rust on top and bottom where the pad wasn't hitting. Could this have caused the brake to hang this bad? I also believe the rotor is warped because while it was pulling really hard, it was lunging and causing a lot of vibration.

 

I have taken the brakes back off now and the wheel that got really hot the pads are scorched and it even melted the glue that held the metal backing plate on the pad causing it to fall off. It also burned some of the rubber seal around the piston but did not burn all the way through.

 

My first thought was that the rotor was causing this but I was wondering if there was a possibility the caliper wasn't releasing pressure. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Where the caliper mounting bolt rusted or pitted, sounds like they are binding and not letting the caliper slide. They probably need to be replaced.

The bolts were fine. I checked them when I was changing the pads and they slid in and out fine and had grease on them.

Yeah it was pretty tough turning the c-clamp to push it back in. What does this lead you to believe?

needs a caliper and possibly the hose (my old 93 had a hose cause this). but mostlikely caliper

Thanks for the help, I bought a caliper and getting the rotors turned. Hopefully this will take care of it.
