Hey Guys

As you know we all have had our small dents in our trucks right? Well I had a small door ding and a friend pointed this small video out on how to remove with out paint or body shop. So I tried it and it works just like the video. Amazing what a litle dry ice can do. So I had to post this as soon as I tried it. Hope this is not dupe out on site somewhere. And hope it is usefull as was for me.

Thanks for the link. I'll try it on some small dings I have on one of my cars.

AWESOME. I just went down to the truck and the two small dings caught my eye, AGAIN. I was just about to call the PDR place. You are the MAN.

Not saying it doesn't work, but it's definitely not what the pros that I've seen do. In fact my uncle does PDR and I've never seen him use dry ice. They have specialized tools the go behind the body panels and basically push the dent back out.

This might work, so I'm not knocking it. Just saying that they are advertising it saying it's what the pros do.

Also I would be a little nervous about my paint, but that's just me. Anxious to hear some feedback.

I agree, I'm not going to knock it either (think I'll try it on my junk car a couple of places) but working in several dealers I've never seen the pdr guys do anything with ice. If they can't access the rear of the panel they do kind of the same thing the ice is supposed to be doing that is manipulating the high areas around the dent to stretch the metal and this pulls the dent out. I've seen some pdr guys do stuff I would consider art.

How do they pull out a dent if they cannot access it from behind?

they drill holes in a part of the body that would be covered up with a trim peice for better access ...

i have done the dry ice method .. also done the 'canned air' method as well.. both work nicely ... but of course won't pull out a dent if it is on a crease in the metal .. or has a crease from the impact ... but it will still lessen the dent ...

Seeing is believing. Thanks for the info. I hope I never have to use it but, if I do I'll give it a try.

I was a PDR skeptic big time until I had a PDR company as a neighbor at our shop. WOW, those guys were artists. They could do some amazing stuff. I saw them repair hoods with many hail dings and you couldn't see any of it when they were done... and I am picky. Never saw anybody ice dry ice on a dent... I am a skeptic.

If you watch the video and look at what is going on, and not just read that the dent is removed, you will see that it is still there. Maybe not quite as big, but still there.

Harborfreight.com sells this dent removal tool. Has anybody tried using it and does it work?

My neighbor used something similar to that (i don't remember the manufacturer). He could not get the glue completely off of the car. Luckily he tried it on his junker car first before trying it on his 521hp '04 GTO.
