Truck Jerking Forward

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2007 2500 HD CCSB 6.0L, 6 speed auto and it occasionally jerks forward when at a complete stop with the foot on the brake. The truck only has 550 miles on it.

It feels like someone hit you from behind. The first couple times it happened I thought someone did hit me and I got out of my truck to look at it. I got some real funny looks.

Anyone else experience this.

I would take it to the dealer and have it looked at but it doesn't do it all the time so I doubt they would be able to duplicate it.

Is yours a Classic or NBS? I have the same in an NBS LB and am NOT having this issue with 6,500+ miles.

I would take it immediately to the dealer as this is a potential safety issue, even if they cannot find anything. It might also be worth a NTSA report.

It's a NBS.

In two weeks it has doen it exactly 6 times.

It feels like the brakes are slipping then catching again. It is just a little strange. I should probably take it in and have them look at it. At least that way if something happens I can at least say I took it in to get it looked at before.

I think I've experienced the same thing in my truck. It happened at stop lt's a few times shortly after I got the truck in Nov. My interpretation of it was I didn't have enough pressure on the brake pedal. The truck was new, so at the time I was just getting the feel for the pedals and haven't thought much of it since. I now have around 1400 miles on it and haven't experienced it in a while. Not sure if I'm just applying more brake pressure or it "fixed itself".

Try applying light pressure on the pedal to see if you can make it surge again. If you can atleast you won't be wasting your time at the dealer. I'm gonna do the same and see if I can "make" it do it. Unless there's a known issue I know the dealer will just say apply more pressure to the pedal.

Hey guys, take it to the dealer. There IS a service bulletin for this. The truck is running a diagnostic test that results in this "push". It has been well documented and is resolved by a simple reflash of the ECM. Let me know if you have any problems. :(

Thank you.

Do you know where I can get a copy of this bulletin?

That way I can take it to the dealer and show them so they can't tell me nothing is wrong.

Well, shucks, I'm still not finding it. My apologies. I am, however, very familiar with the condition that you describe. I've experienced it many times and I think I know the cause. I "thought" there was a service bulletin for it that involved a reflash of the ECM. I still think there is one, but I can't find it. I'll ask a colleague tomorrow who is likely the authority on whether or not there is a TSB and I'll let you know. :(

I had that problem and it was my compressor kicking on and off causing the engine to idle high for a few seconds. It's probably doing it while you are going down the road but you just can't tell until you're stopped. Try unplugging your compressor to see if it still does it. You may need to have your a/c recharged. Or, it could be like mine and have a bad heater control unit switch that turns on your heater and a/c. Hope this helpls!

Sounds like transmission bump. have you checked the fluid level of your transmission? if it's low when down shifting it can make the truck jerk slightly

I noticed the same thing in my new 2500HD... it only happens when very little brake pressure is applied...... just enough to keep it from rolling. I've noticed it several times after slowly rolling up and barely coming to a stop after a car ahead of me at a red light turned and I took up that extra car length. Any moderate amount of brake pedal pressure seems to prevent this from happening entirely. But if this is something that doees actually have a TSB out, it would be good to know, even thoughit does not seem to be a major issue.

If you could dig up something that would be great. I talked to my dealer this morning about it and he said he hadn't heard of anyone having this issue or a tsb addressing it. No suprise there of course........
