Question

2003 GMC 2500HD 6.0l I took it to the dealer after a $89 fee they tell me P0449 (Vent Solonoid Control Curcuit). So I buy it $174.70 a new designed valve # 19152345. So I put it in, what a pain. Bring it back in the morning to clear engine light. 30 min later it comes back on. I bring it back the scan it P0449 same thing. Now I wasted $263.70 for no reason GREAT. They want another $89 to diagnose it again HELL NO. The tech told me to check the plug, it's fine. He also said that the scan tool is not getting signal from the valve. So I checked for Power & Ground with a test light, nothing. Now what, Dealer don't care. Please Help

Checked the 4ws fuse and it also has no power and the fuse is good. could this be a problem with the computer? Also once in a while the engine light would go off for a few hours but in the morning it will come back on. please help

The pcm controlls the ground side of this circuit, the pcm cannot be the reason you have no power at the fuse. That may not be good news unfortunately. There are about 30 things on the bus that powers your 4ws fuse. What I mean is there is battery power to a long strand of things in the underhood electrical center. There are several busses or strands. Some of the things on the bus that powers the 4ws are radio,abs,hvac... if everything else works and you have no power to the fuse it sounds like you need the underhood electrical center which is probably more expensive than the pcm. Make sure you really do not have power to that fuse.

i checked the fuse with a test light and i also checked for power with the fuse out. nothing. and the test light works. could i just give the fuse power? LOL

I took a look at the power supply to the 4ws fuse ,and it is hot at all times,I guess you could but have to lift the fuse block anyways ,so go ahead and remove the bracket and cover of the fuse block, then unlatch the fuse block and turn it upside down or at least on its side ,find the fuse feed ,maybe a mouse got in there,go from there, thats what I would do.you'll find something as mike said ,lots of other things on that bus,6 things actually, take your time,on the right track now.

I am no tech but from my dealing with this same code if you have power at 4ws fuse start following the wires from there to your cannister. Also check that you have power at the sensor on top of intake manifold. I found mine to be faulty wiring. Also found using a voltmeter was alot easier to diagnose the exact power.

Which one don't you have, power or ground.

I checked for power and ground and didn't get anything on my test light and i know it works

you have everyright to go to the service manager or the dealer principle ,this is a COMEBACK,you have already paid for the diag ,now it is their turn to pay, they did not fix it,take it back.

No power to solenoid could be simple as 4ws fuse. But I wouldn't lift a finger to replace it.You laid down your money for a correct diagnosis and it appears that is not what happened here
