I've seen this before... but there's still no way it's going to sound as good as a decent aftermarket receiver.

Yes, and they retail for $200 but I have seen them for $110 online.

May not sound as good as a deck but it will still sound good and maintain your steering wheel controls allowing an external amp with sub control.
