Random Ecu Fuse Pops

Last weekend I'm backing out of the driveway and when i shift to drive the engine stalls. I couldn't start it up again. Finally after a bunch of diagnosing i discovered the ECU fuse blown. Replaced it and it ran fine. Then today i'm driving down the road at 65 MPH and it pops again. Kind of scarey since the PS and PB went out. Both time the engine was cold though that may be coincidence. I'm goingto try and chase down the wires and make sure there aren't any shorts but that's like a needle in a haystack. I haven't done any work on the truck recently.

any thoughts or common issues. Obviously the trucks closing in on 10 years old so anything could be rotting away.

Thanks,

Steve

Check the connector to the fuel pump. It is located under the truck on top front part of the fuel tank. Also make sure your not runing the truck low on fuel I have pop that fuse a few times when I am very very low of fuel.

Thanks, Tank was full to the top. Had just filled it. Tank still 3/4 this morning.

The part that worries me is that it popped twice in 3 days. Probably goingto keep happening i bet.

Well, you could put a 50 amp fuse in place and wait for the smoke to see what's bad. (WAIT!! I'm joking!!!)

one of my service trucks is a 99, but it has a 6.5 in it. It was doing the same thing intermittently, and always at the wrong time. It finally ended up being the PCM. I have no idea if they are similar (diesel to gas), but the new PCM cured it.

Must have been just old fuses cause the second one was one that i pulled from the truck in another spot. Once i went out and bought all new fuses it hasn't popped again. Moral: 10 year old fuses should be replaced as their amp rated drops over time.
