I was in the national gaurd for 10 years and I drove the old CUCV's every where. They where the prefered mode of transportation in winter because they had heat! Anyway before i left the gaurd i was at Ft. McCoy and we were working with the canadians in some field manuvers and they had brand new 2500hd chevys painted up in the green CARC paint. I heard roomers the the US was going to bring back the CUCV. Has any one else heard this or do you have some pictures?

The CUCV's were essentially removed from the system about 10 years ago because parts were no longer available for order so when they broke down they couldn't be fixed and had to be turned in.

We are still using the HMMWV's. The only issue I have with the current vehicle is that it is terribly under powered and the transmission lack an O/D so it screams going down the highway. It sounds like the engine is going to blow up at 55 MPH. The up-armored variants have a different engine and transmission but the added weight still makes it an underpowered rig.

In it's current form the milverado just won't meet the Army's needs. It could but it would need soem adjustments.

The best solution I can see is to get a better Engine/Tranny Combo for the HMMWV's as the platform is a good one.
