Tired Of Waiting For Gm's Extended Range Remote

Well it's winter here in Canada and a remote start is pretty much useless if you have to almost touch the truck for it to work and I'm tired of waiting for GM so I started looking for other long range two way options. Here is what I found;

Cost was $300 installed and installation took an honest 15 minutes by the shop. Range is for sure 1000 to 1200 feet might be up to 1500 in a parking lot with clear line of sight and the antenna facing you. Confirms locked or unlocked, vehicle running and doors open or closed. Comes with one two-way remote with LCD screen and one one-way remote without. The one-way remote does have a sliding cover that comes up over all the keys, actually looks kind of sleek.

 

Well like I said that was my solution,normally I would wait for GM but I just don't hold much hope that we will see this thing anytime soon.

Do you know if this completely replaces the factory remote start or adds the 2 way and the extended range to the stock system?>??

My two factory remotes (Regular Range) are completely functional as well as a two-way with a screen (Extended Range) and a one way without (Extended Range)

Thanks for posting. I might have just found a use for that extra $300 in my pocket. I'd reallly like to start my truck from my office, and know that it started.

I have an auto-start from CT.....the remote is good for at least 2000 feet.........I've been in the Scotiabank Place (hockey arena for the Ottawa Senators) and can start the truck from inside the stadium. ;)

My biggest reason for this was the fact that other than power and ground it is strictly a plug and play install, no messing around with the factory remote start. I realize that there are lots of other aftermarket options but I think this is a good balance.
