Front End Popping Reverse 2001 4wd Tahoe

Hey everyone,

Maybe once or twice week my front end will pop when I throw it in reverse first thing in morning. I have only heard right when it goes into reverse, no other time. Any help would be appreciated. I searched board but could not find identical issue. Thanks in advance to all who respond!

Are you parked facing up an incline.....if the vehicle was in neutral and no brakes on, would it roll backwards? sounds like the transmission is loaded up with the vehicle weight when coming out of park and you hear the catch pin "popping" loose. If you park on an incline/decline, apply the parking brake before putting the transmission in park and see if your "pop" comes back.
